Through March 31, the Click-it or Ticket campaign will be in full force in the city of Oviedo and throughout the state. During this time, law enforcement throughout Florida will have zero tolerance for motorists who fail to use their safety belts.

The 2011 UCF Opera Scholarship Festival: Solo Recital, Master Class and VIP “Meet the Artist Reception,” featuring Metropolitan Opera Bass-Baritone, Keith Miller, will be held at the Trinity Preparatory School Auditorium, 5700 Trinity Prep Lane in Winter Park. The recital is Friday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. The master class is Saturday, March 26 at noon. Lighthouse Central Florida will host its annual Sight and Sole Doggie Stroll event on March 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte Springs. The Third Annual Kids House Charity Football Game is on March 26, with the gates opening at 2 p.m. and kick-off at 4 p.m. All the proceeds from the game will benefit the Kids House of Seminole. Geneva Quilt Documentation Day is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 26 at the Rural Heritage Center on the southeast corner of First and Main Streets. Join your Geneva neighbors and quilting enthusiasts from the Central Florida area for a day of celebrating quilts. There will be free lectures and documentation instructions.

Red Bird Crafts will have a show and sale at the First United Methodist Church in Oviedo this weekend.

Red Bird Mission Crafts will offer a show and sale on Saturday, March 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Oviedo, near Oviedo High School at 263 King St. Lunch will be available. Red Bird gives back 100 percent to the Appalachian communities.

The city of Winter Springs will be holding a Water Conservation Day celebration at City Hall on Saturday, April 2 from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will host vendors providing information and services related to water conservation. Professionals in their field will speak on topics including rain harvesting and rain barrel construction, water efficient irrigation technology, native and Florida friendly landscaping, and maintaining a healthy Florida lawn. There will be a variety of activities for children and families including hands-on activity stations where kids can learn about our where the water supply comes from and can build an aquifer they can eat. A silent auction will be held on Saturday, April 2 at the Oviedo Bowling Center from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Among the items to be auctioned: Southwest Airline tickets, Orlando Magic tickets, Disney and Universal passes and many more. Kids House will be hosting its Fourth Annual Field of Dreams Gala on Saturday, April 16 at The Venue at the University of Central Florida. It is a sports-themed, creative black-tie event. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a reception and transition at 7:30 to the dinner and program. The emcee for this year’s event will be Jim Payne of WESH News Channel 2, our guest auctioneer will be Michael Strahan, defensive end for the New York Giants, and our special entertainment is the 38 Special. Special Population Dances for Teens and Adults is Friday, March 25, from 7-9 p.m. at Riverside Park, 1600 Lockwood Blvd. This dance is for the intellectually disabled teens and adults, accompanied with a companion if needed. Family Bingo Night is on Friday, April 8 at 7 p.m. at Riverside Park, 1600 Lockwood Blvd. Have a fun-filled bonding Bingo Night with the Oviedo Recreation and Parks Department. The last American Red Cross Babysitter’s Course before the summer will be Saturday, May 7 at Riverside Park, 1600 Lockwood Blvd. This course is designed for male and female participants ages 11 to 15 who might be interested in learning the importance of leadership, infant care, accident prevention, and basic CPR and first aid.
