The Hagerty Huskies (1-4) finally have their first win of the season after a 23-3 comeback blowout over University (3-2) on Oct. 5.
The win was a long time in coming for the Huskies, who had faced a four-game losing streak to start the season. After falling behind by a field goal early, the Huskies leveraged a run-heavy offense to tie the Cougars heading into the half.
In the third quarter, quarterback Jason Driskel snuck into the end zone to open up a lead that the Huskies wouldn’t relinquish. They continued to pile on with three rushing touchdowns to put the game away.
On Friday, Oct. 12, they host Lake Minneola (2-3), which has been on the winning and losing sides of three blowouts in three weeks. That game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. On Oct. 19, they travel to Lake Brantley.
The Lions (4-1) had a two-week break after handily defeating Hagerty to end September. Now they face an East River (2-3) team that is fresh off a 31-3 loss to Timber Creek. They’ll play the hosts, kicking off at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12. On Oct. 18 they’ll head to Edgewater to face a struggling Eagles team.
The Bears (1-4) can’t seem to catch a break as a four-game losing streak was extended with a 23-12 loss to Edgewater on Oct. 5.
They’ll be looking for a turnaround against Timber Creek (5-1), who demolished East River on Oct. 5. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12. After that they’ll travel to Oak Ridge for an Oct. 19 showdown.
